Ticket Procedure

Tanfield Lodge Lake is for most of the day an unmanned operation, and the purchase of your ticket is ‘self-service’. Please buy your ticket at the Fishing Hut before you start fishing, and follow this procedure:

1. Take a ticket (with an attached envelope) from the rack.

2. Fill in both sections of the ticket with your details and car registration number.

3. Place your money in the envelope and seal the envelope.

4. Tear off and retain the small part of the ticket as proof of payment.

5. Drop the envelope into the Safe through the opening in the wall.

6. HAPPY FISHING! The bailiff will visit and do his rounds at various times to check tickets, so please keep your ticket with you.

Please bring the correct amount for your envelope as it’s the only* way to pay.

* We can offer a solution to pay online, but it’s not easy due to the patchy signal at our remote location (which is why we cannot install a card machine). Read here what to do if you can not bring cash for the envelope >

Opening hours

We open at 8 am and close at dusk (which will be at different times throughout the season). We’d appreciate it if you’d stop at the Hut on departure to fill out the form to let us know what you caught (released and/or killed). It helps us monitor stocking levels.

The Fishing Hut offers an indoor seating area and a little kitchen, should you want to shelter or eat your lunch inside. The Hut has a south-facing veranda and there is a separate toilet cabin near the Hut.
