Tanfield Lodge Lake, Park Lane, West Tanfield, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 5LB.

Using the postcode on your satnav will take you nearly there (follow the sign “To the Lake” for the last bit), but search for “Tanfield Lodge Lake” on Google Maps and this will take you all the way. Directions

Tanfield Lodge Lake is just a few miles from the A1, halfway between Ripon and Masham, and easily accessible from the main road A6108 (leading from Ripon to Masham). Driving through West Tanfield on the main road towards Masham, you will see a small road signposted to The Lake / Tanfield Lodge at the end of the village of West Tanfield, opposite the last houses before the road bends uphill to Corby Hill.

At this point, you turn away from the main road. After a few hundred yards, you see a T-junction with another sign to The Lake, where you turn left. Follow this single-track road around the bend, and when it opens up, you will see Tanfield Lodge Lake on your left.

Parking at the Lake

There is ample parking space by the fishing hut. You will also find parking right at the water line (both visible in the aerial picture, if you look closer).

If it’s a busy day, we would appreciate it if you parked near the fishing hut and left the lower parking spaces for guests with limited mobility. It’s a very short walk down.

In West Tanfield…

In the centre of this picturesque village, you will find The Bull Inn, with its beer garden at the River Ure, and the Bruce Arms. You find a very well-sorted Village Shop (with Post Office, open until 1 pm) to the other side of the mini roundabout, should you want to stock up for lunch. If you want to stay in our area a little longer, you will find rooms at both pubs. Or have a look at Riverdale Rural Holidays if you fancy a shepherd hut right at the riverbank or a luxury lodge in the middle of nature.

The village of West Tanfield is well know for its picturesque setting at the river Ure
