Other ways of payment

By cheque:

We offer the option to pay by cheque. We ask you to leave your name and address as well as your phone number with your cheque, so we can contact you if there is a problem with your cheque. Your details will be deleted as soon as your cheque has cleared, to comply with data & privacy legislation.

Online payment by card:

Although we are happy to offer you this option if you should find yourself without cash or cheques, we have to point out that it can be daunting to make an online payment because the signal at the Fishing Hut is very patchy and often not strong enough for payment processing. That is why we can not install a card machine at our location in the middle of nature. You can find a better mobile signal by driving up the hill (over the cattle grid that you see just before you arrive at our parking) or driving back to the village to find a spot where you have a better signal. (😊But then you could just as well stop off at the Village Shop/Post Office to get the right amount in bank notes, which might be easier. It’s open until 1 pm, except on Sunday).

Should you still prefer to make the payment by card, then please use the link below (once you have a good signal):

Click the “Pay Online” button to connect to PayPal.
The amount and the beneficiary are automatically filled out, so it’s a one-click payment without a lot of typing 😊. You will receive a payment notification by email or text message.

Please note: your payment will ONLY be valid ON THE DAY the payment is made. Keep the payment notification on standby (to show the bailiff proof of payment) and fill out the ticket envelope as normal with your details. Mention on the envelope “paid online”, so the bailiff knows why there are no banknotes in the envelope.

When your PayPal payment is successful, you will receive an email or text message from PayPal with the message “You have paid £25 to Tanfield Lodge Lake”. Make sure you keep this confirmation safe as proof of payment and show it to the bailiff when asked for your ticket. The online payment is only valid on the date shown in the email or text message.

Note: You can use PayPal if you don’t have a PayPal account, but you have to click the option that says “pay without a PayPal account”. When you open the app, Paypal shows “open a PayPal account now!” as the preferred option in blue, the other option just in grey. If you pay without a Paypal account, you have to fill out your details and card number manually (which you don’t need to do if you have an account).
